We offer training to clients who are interested in competing or already competing and can sometimes extend training to those who wish to work their dogs without the competition element. We can accommodate one to one lessons from puppies up to open dogs and group lessons for novice and open dogs. We start with the basics and can help you develop your abilities to achieve a fully trained gundog in a positive manner, giving your dog confidence using constructive techniques.
For most of the year we are training on meadow land and in the Summer we can also provide sugar beet training.
From September through the shooting season Sam can also run the line for clients who wish to undertake live walked up training days. During the shooting season these days are worked around Sam’s diary commitments for competing and Judging.
You can see some videos from Sam’s YouTube Channel here.
If you are interested in booking one to one lessons or would like to arrange your own group please message Sam on 07957 861645 or email: sam@mrallp.co.uk
“Sam has been giving me 1-2-1 lessons to help me and my now 2 ½ year old Labrador retriever bitch, Dodie. Dodie has done well in novice tests but has a tendency to exhibit push behaviour, and we have been working on this in particular.
Sam is extremely patient, very clear in her explanations and only supports positive training techniques. Training is highly structured, with follow up summaries and homework.
In short, I cannot recommend Sam highly enough.”
Sam has been training myself and my two Labradors, Flora and Rory on a regular basis for eight months.
I went to Sam for a specific reason. We have had gundogs for many years but eighteen months ago I suffered a severe brain bleed. The bleed has resulted in me losing function, especially short-term memory.
In short, Sam has taught and encouraged me to train and given me enough confidence to compete in tests and trials again. For that I will be eternally grateful! She has amazing patience and humour, even when I ask the same question repeatedly, as I sometimes find it difficult to retain information. To aid my work, Sam email’s a resume of the work covered in the lesson and homework to cover before the next session. This I find extremely useful.
Flora and Rory are vastly different types of dogs. Flora is very driven whilst Rory is more relaxed. Sam’s training methods adapt to each to encourage the best performance, enhance the strengths, and improve weaker areas.
I have participated in both group and 1:1 lesson with Sam as the trainer. Both are useful in the training process.
Training Labradors is not always continuous, things go wrong and it can sometimes feel a ‘two steps forward and one back’ process. Sam is always there to encourage when my performance was not to the level I had expected.
Sam has lovely training ground, and everything needed for the journey to competition success.
